Modern cameras are crafted from metals and some durable plastics, however antique cameras were created from wood, using brass and leather enhancements. As technology advanced, metal began to replace wood and cameras began taking the shape commonly recognized today. Due to the fact that the camera is extremely old and fragile, it is important that collectors use special techniques to ensure that they remain in optimum condition.

Instant Cameras
Today, cameras are so common it’s easy to take them for granted. However, one look at the cameras and you will be immediately reminded of how far mankind has come in the realms of photography. Taking digital pictures or making home movies is fast, simple, and quick, yet this was hardly the case during the 1800’s when cameras were first invented. It is often due to the fact that these cameras have evolved so greatly over the past few centuries, that cameras are a hot collectors item.

Vintage Lenses
The very first camera prototype was known as Camera Obscura and it was developed in the 1600s. There were other early camera models throughout the 1600s, but it wasn’t until the 1800s that cameras were developed that would take photographs that were viable and would last. The first camera that produced a long lasting photo was taken created by Joseph Nicèphore Nièpce. These early cameras were known as box cameras and led the style throughout the entire twentieth century.
